It feels good to be back, renewed and focused! So you’re probably thinking “well where did you go?” and that is a great question but let’s first go back to the beginning.

Beginning

After performing web design as a hobby and for clients since 2008, Past Due Branding was established December of 2016. PDB was established to focus on not only performing services but also to provide education on the “what” and “why” behind performing your online marketing more effectively. There was tons of growth and partnering with great entities but there was something missing leading to numerous moments of frustration.

 

(Temporary) Ending

The issue was that PDB got away from the primary focus of education and instead of focusing more on quantity and not quality in addition to not providing consistent education as we initially intended. The lack of fulfillment hit a breaking point in mid-2019 leading to me walking away. Yes, I was done, frustrated and unfulfilled and felt that maybe I made a mistake.

While the desire to educate was still there, I questioned whether PDB was the proper means of establishing my purpose. Fast forward to the end of 2019 which lead me to connect with Dawain Atkinson of the B.A.R. Network.  What started as simply providing guidance regarding tech systems and online marketing plans to help the Network grow would turn into a new and renewed focus for PDB. The Network consists of member podcasts all working on one unified goal….creation of content as a means of brand growth. It was at that point that I know where my focus should be – content creators!

 

New focus on content creators

The issue before was that PDB did not have a niche audience. There are many that have money to pay for a service but if my goal is education, then there are a smaller group that will pay and pay attention. Content creators are a moving train that simply needs direction while those that do not have a focus on content creation are a train that have yet to leave the

station. What I did was overexert my energy with those that have no intent to leave the (content) station yet wanted PDB to help their brand grow. Let me be clear – there is absolutely no growth without content creation

With this understanding now of focusing primarily on content creators…we are back, renewed, refreshed and ready to serve!

 

So how will we help?

Focusing on the “what” and “why” more than the “how”

There are many platforms out there that will explain the “how” but there are equally just as many that perform the steps (how) yet have no idea why they are doing what they are doing and what to truly expect from their actions. Marketing is all about action > analysis > adjustment and even though action is great analysis and adjustment come through understanding why you are doing what you are doing to begin with.

Blog posts

You can expect to get tons of information primarily through blog post formats….for SEO reasons, of course.

Podcasts

According to Buzzsprout, “by 2022, it’s estimated that podcast listening will grow to 132 million people in the United States.” (source) As an avid podcast listener myself, I know that the podcast platform is growing tremendously and rightfully so since it is a very convenient way to take in content in so many environments; driving, at the gym, at home cooking and many more.

We plan on launching a podcast soon that will also take our focus of the “what” and “why” within online marketing and make it more applicable for you in your brand growth. We also plan on sharing interviews (yes, you know that interviews and podcasts go together like pineapple and pizza 😎) with those content creators that started just like you, from much of nothing, to see the growth by performing their online marketing more effectively. Definitely excited for this!

Not neglecting the “how”

I mentioned earlier that we are focusing primarily on the “what” and “why” but this is not to say that the “how” will be neglected. The “how” will truly be detailed through both blog posts and screen share videos. While many of the more “simple” tutorials will be shared publicly, the more detailed tutorials will only be made available to our email list so be sure to subscribe so that you don’t miss out on any of these detailed walkthroughs that will help you grow your brand with key tech systems.

 

What about service-based businesses?

Seeing as we are a service-based business our self, we could never neglect other service-based businesses. The issue is that we will primarily focus on service-based businesses that understand the importance of content creation. We can no longer focus on those that don’t want to break out of their comfort zone in order to realize that content is key. Our goal is to provide educational content that sparks the interest that leads service-based business owners to begin creating content themselves and not focusing on “get SEO rankings overnight” scams  and paid advertising as a primary means of growth 😒.
